Give Life
Do you want to give a present that will keep on giving?
Then be an organ donor.
Immediately after my husband died, I was called to the phone. Moving in a trance,
I spoke to an official with organ donation. After answering his questions, I
said ,“Yes, my husband will give the gift of life”.
In the October. 8, 2006, issue of “Parade” magazine, Katherine Heigl,
Dr. Izzie on “Grey’s Anatomy” TV show, expressed the pain and
suffering she experienced when, at 7 years old, her 15 year old brother died from
an automobile accident. Katherine’s Mother knew clearly she wanted to donate
her son’s organs, “to save another mother from having to go through
it” (losing a child). Working in a hospital environment was an emotional
challenge for Katherine until last season. “Dr. Izzie” fell in love
with a patient who needed a heart transplant, and despite her extreme efforts,
he died. It was after this episode that Katherine began to speak more openly about
organ donation as the spokeswoman for “Donate
Life America”.
My Dad announced to his family his wish to give his body to science. This was
very hard for us when he died, yet we knew it was his wish.
-
While making your list, please stop; make sure you are an
organ donor and let your family know.
-
Give a present to someone in pain and suffering who needs
a second chance at life.
-
Is there anything more important?
Give your present lovingly by going to the web site Donate
Life America, and sign up to be an organ donor. I did.
