Balance and Motion

Having recently moved into a home on a lake, I ride my bike around the lake early in the morning. The scene is beautiful with the sun shimmering on the water and the geese flying in formation.

It is true that balance is the key to successful bicycle riding, yet once you conquer it, that skill stays with you forever. Think back to the time you learned to ride a bike. You know it is possible because others have done it,  but you have a fearful feeling of falling and maybe scraping a knee. Support from an adult lends comfort and security and confidence until miraculously you balance and pedal for one second. That small action step leads to a lifetime of cycling.

Life is like that. The first attempt at a new skill is scary, yet with support from your peers, you move forward in the direction of your intention. Take small action steps with confidence and know you will feel fear yet do it anyway: keep life balanced and stay in motion.

Coaching Questions

  • What skill do you want to learn?

  • List the small actions you will take to accomplish this skill.

  • When you accomplish it, will your life keep moving forward?

Partner with a coach and successfully take those action steps. Call me.
